Coinciding with APS and RRPS spring breaks is Rise and Try Week, a series of family-friendly, educational, and entertaining experiences offered by the Balloon Museum, which will be open daily, including Monday the 26th. Visit our exhibitions, experience our 4-D Theater and enjoy the North Grounds for a picnic or play time.

Kicking off the week will be Ballooning for All on March 24, 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. This balloon rally (weather permitting) for people of all abilities and special needs takes place on the Balloon Museum’s expansive and scenic North Grounds and features over 15 hot air balloons. Admission is free.

Drone Race Day on Sunday, March 25, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Walk Up Workshops (3:00 to 5:00 p.m., free with paid museum admission)

Tuesday, March 27 — Cookie Decorating (while supplies last) with Food Network winner Kristin Dowling of Rude Boy Cookies
Wednesday, March 28 – Iris Folding Balloon Greeting Cards

Friday, March 30 – Professional Photography Tips for your Phone
Monday March 26 through Friday March 30, guided tours of the museum’s main exhibition and our special exhibition. Arctic Air: The Bold Flight of S.A. Andrée. Free with paid museum admission. Tour times: 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
During Spring Break Family Day, March 28, 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., guests are invited to enjoy kites, balloons, bubbles, gliders, entertainment and hands-on art stations. Bring a picnic or enjoy food truck fare served on the Balloon Museum’s scenic North Grounds. Entry to all activities is included with payment of regular Balloon Museum admission fees.
The New Mexico Food Truck Festival, March 31, will bring dozens of the state’s best food trucks and craft beers to the North Grounds for a day of food, music, and family-friendly fun.
Prices vary by activity. Some are free admission, and others require payment of regular museum admission prices of $1-$4 per person, or special event admission prices for NM Food Truck Festival.

Get a Family Membership to the museum for only $35 (normally $60)! Through the month of April, Family Memberships will be discounted at $45!

Spring Break Family Day!

Hello everyone!

Spring Break Family Day is a great chance to get out with the family that includes hands-on balloon education, making kites, live music, parachute games and balloon sculptures.

Food trucks will be on site, or families can bring a picnic too!

At 9:30 a.m., the Balloon Museum’s award winning program, Stories in the Sky kicks off the day’s events.Arrive early for good place on the floor, Stories in the Sky, a visitor favorite, presents a live music band and storyteller, Laurie Magovern. Spring Break Family Day also offers great access to Museum’s newest exhibitions, including the Two Eagles Mission Control which highlights the record-breaking ballooning adventure across the Pacific ocean.

Kids are encouraged to bring their own kite to fly on museum grounds though kites are available at the Balloon Museum Gift Shoppe.

All activities are included with regular museum admission.

Holidays Take Flight

8th Annual Family Day

Sunday, December 7, 11am-3pm.

FREE admission.

There will be a sing-along Holiday Concert with Susie Tallman & Friends that will have the the whole family raising their voices in song! Live holiday music that celebrates the season will feature the Enchantment Handbell Ensemble, local favorite Cielito Lindo de Juan Lucero playing New Mexico holiday music and the Manzano High School Choir caroling throughout the museum.

Holiday family activities include a visit with Balloon Pilot Santa (a crowd favorite and great photo-op), decorating balloon shaped cookies, making balloon holiday cards, ornaments and a remote-controlled hot-air balloon outdoors (weather permitting).

To make the day more festive, special holiday food and delicious hot chocolate will be available for purchase from Conchitas Creations Gourmet Food Truck.

A very special opportunity to share with those less fortunate and have fun doing it features Travelin’ Jack, the official mascot for the 2014 New Mexico Marines Toys for Tots Campaign. For the third year in a row, Jack (a loveable four-legged friend) will present a large donation New Mexico Toys for Tots. Jack will paw-ticipate by presenting over 500 children’s books to Toys for Tots. Those who wish to do so may bring new, unwrapped toys and games to donate to Toys for Tots.
